CHAPTER FIFTEEN

"What happened?" Henry asked.

"You don't remember?"

Henry blinked, rubbing at his eyes wearily. He could vaguely see Arnold, could see the ceiling also and realised he was lying down. He was still clothed, minus his jacket, which he could now see flung across the back of a chair. There was no sign of David, which meant he'd either left already or hadn't come back last night. It was light outside, and the sun streamed in through the window. Henry couldn't say at all what time it was.

"What time is it?"

"Vegas time?" Arnold asked.

"Would help, yeah."

"Eleven."

"Eleven?"

"Well, to be fair, we didn't get back until about eight."

"We didn't? I don't remember."

"Not surprised."

Henry groaned. "Why do I get the feeling I've forgotten some things I really don't want to remember?"

"You want me to answer that or you want me to keep you wanting not to remember?"

"Depends. Do I want to remember?"

"Uh . . . no."

"Then leave it. Let's get something to eat."
